Terms of Service

The terms of using Field Current.

These terms cover businesses that use Field Current to handle their inquiries, and homeowners who receive text messages about a service request they submitted.

What Field Current is

Field Current is software that handles inbound service inquiries for a local service business: it collects the details of a request, answers follow-up questions by text, offers appointment times the business has open, and applies the approval rules that business controls before a visit is booked. The business remains the party providing the actual service.

Messaging program terms

This is the part that governs the text messages themselves.

  • Program: appointment scheduling and follow-up for a service request you submitted to a local service business.
  • Opting in: you opt in by checking the optional consent box on that business's request form. The box is unchecked by default, and your request is handled whether or not you check it. Consent is not a condition of service.
  • Message frequency varies. Messages are sent in response to your request and your replies, not on a schedule.
  • Message and data rates may apply, according to your plan with your mobile carrier.
  • Reply STOP at any time to stop receiving messages. Reply HELP for help, or contact us at the address below.
  • Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
  • Supported carriers may change without notice.

How the phone number and consent record are handled is set out in the Privacy Policy. Mobile opt-in data and consent are never shared with third parties for marketing purposes.

If you are a business using Field Current

You are responsible for the consent behind the numbers you bring to the service. Do not upload or enter a phone number that has not agreed to be contacted, and do not use Field Current to send marketing or promotional messages, which the service is neither built for nor registered for.

You are also responsible for the accuracy of what you configure: your business hours, your availability, your service area, and the answers the assistant is permitted to give. Field Current offers only appointment times your own calendar shows as open and rechecks availability before booking. You decide which workflows require approval and which routine actions may run automatically.

Acceptable use

Do not use the service to break the law, to harass anyone, to impersonate another business, to send messages to people who have opted out, or to attempt to reach another business’s data. We may suspend an account that does any of these.

Billing

Paid plans are billed in advance on the interval shown at signup, with usage beyond a plan’s included inquiries charged at the rate published on the pricing page. You can cancel at any time; cancellation stops future charges and does not refund the period already paid for.

Availability and liability

We work to keep the service running and accurate, but we provide it as it is, without a warranty that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Field Current is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before it arose. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Changes and contact

If these terms change materially, the revision date above changes with them, and continued use after that date means the new terms apply. Questions go to hello@field-current.com.
